About David
David Githaiga Nguru is an Associate Advocate in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department at Owaga & Associates LLP Advocates. He brings a robust background in managing complex commercial, civil, and employment disputes, underpinned by a strong commitment to legal research, client advocacy,
and strategic case management.
David holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the University of Nairobi, where he graduated with Second Class Upper Division honors, and successfully completed the Advocates Training Program at the Kenya School of Law. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. Additionally, he holds a Certificate in Data Protection from the CIPIT Data Protection Course (2023), complementing his legal qualifications with specialized knowledge in privacy and compliance.
Before joining Owaga & Associates, David served as a Docketing Officer at The Barton Law Group, where he honed his skills in case management systems and client relations. He also completed his pupillage and traineeship at Mbuthia Kinyanjui & Company Advocates, gaining invaluable experience in drafting pleadings, conducting legal research, and handling court matters. His dedication to justice extends beyond private practice; he has acted as a Researcher at the Wakilisha Initiative, a role in which he provided legal services to minors in conflict with the law and drove policy reform initiatives in the juvenile justice system.
He has experience in Civil, Commercial, and Criminal Litigation and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. He specialises in advising and representing clients in employment and labour disputes, banking and commercial litigation, land matters, taxation law and family matters. He has handled matters in the Court of Appeal, the High Court, the Employment & Labour Relations Court and the Environment and Land Court, Magistrate Court and Small Claims Court.
He is a professional and reliable advocate with excellent interpersonal and conceptual skills. He is a team-oriented player who works to increase understanding and proficiency in all areas of legal practice.
